If you have a Google device on Android 11, and your notifications are not working, try these troubleshooting steps:
Step 1: Ensure notifications are enabled for Banner Medications
First, confirm that notifications are enabled for Banner Medications on your device.
- Open the Settings app on your phone
- Click "Apps & Notifications"
- Click "App Info"
- Click "Banner Medications"
- Click "Notifications"
- Ensure that "All Banner Medications notifications" is toggled on
Step 2: Exclude Banner Medications from battery optimization
Android includes a battery optimization feature that restricts the functionality of apps when they're in the background, which can prevent your Banner Medications notifications from being sent. We recommend excluding Banner Medications from the battery optimization restrictions to ensure that your notifications are received.
- Open the Settings app on your phone
- Click "Apps & Notifications"
- Click "App Info"
- Click "Banner Medications"
- Click "Advanced"
- Click "Battery"
- Under "Background restriction," ensure that it says "App can use battery in background"
- Note: if it instead says "Restricted", click on it and then press "Remove" to remove the restriction
- Under "Battery optimization," if it says "Optimizing battery use" click on it
- Towards the top of the page, change the filter from "Not optimized" to "All apps"
- Click on Banner Medications
- On the pop up, click "Don't optimize" and then click "Done"
Step 3: Allow Banner Medications to interrupt Do Not Disturb mode
If you use Do Not Disturb mode, you can update your Settings to ensure that your medication reminders are still received while your phone is on Do Not Disturb mode.
- Open the Settings app on your phone
- Click "Apps & Notifications"
- Click "Notifications"
- Scroll down and click "Advanced" at the bottom of the page
- Click "Do Not Disturb"
- Click "Apps"
- Click "Add Apps"
- Click "Banner Medications"
- Toggle on "Allow all notifications"
